The ESRM is the first private European School. The school is run by a non-profit school limited company (Schul-GmbH), which is supported by the non-profit Humanist Foundation. The school property belongs to the city of Bad Vilbel. The school building was built by the municipal enterprise of the city of Bad Vilbel and rented to the Schul-GmbH.

ESRM is a fully accredited European School, offering the full range of services provided for in the European Schools' curriculum, and is also in the fortunate position to offer even more.

The ESRM has a nursery for 4 and 5 year olds with two year groups, both of which are offered in the language sections where the Early Learning Programme is taught, just like in the other European Schools.

5 minutes by car and 20 minutes on foot away is the Lindenhof Golf Club with its park-like par 72 course. The course is very quiet, rich in flowers and water, flat and very walkable. The surrounding air is clean and good. The 18 holes are 6068 m long measured from yellow and the almost 40,000 sqm of ponded areas are kept free of mosquitoes by countless dragonflies and moderlies.

Bad Vilbel is known as the "city of springs" and is home to a large number of museums, which call different areas of the region's eventful history their own. Here are four of the museums to explore in Bad Vilbel.

Living Roman Mosaic

The reconstruction of a Roman mosaic can be admired in a glass pavilion in the spa gardens of Bad Vilbel. This showpiece of ancient mosaic art is the only one to have been found on Hessian soil. It is one of the most beautiful in the whole of Germany. It depicts sea creatures, grotesque hybrids and real animals gathered around the sea god Oceanus.

Hassia Spring Museum

The Hassia Mineralquellen company in Bad Vilbel is one of the most modern mineral springs in Germany. During a guided tour of the plant, visitors can experience the course of mineral water from the spring to the bottle. The Hassia Spring Museum shows the company's 140-year history, which also reflects a piece of industrial, family and regional history.

Fountain and Bath Museum

The new Fountain and Bath Museum in Bad Vilbel's historic city centre offers visitors a comprehensive overview of the more than 450-year history of Bad Vilbel's mineral springs, which also reflects a piece of family and industrial history. In the individual sections, the topics of geology, technology and logistics as well as the bathing and spa business are covered with the help of texts, films, graphics and interesting exhibits.

Museum of local history Massenheim

The local history museum is located in the centre of the village and is housed in Massenheim's most beautiful half-timbered building, the Old Town Hall. The ensemble consists of the town hall, the converted barn, the shepherd's house, the museum garden and the associated square, which is used by the museum café in summer. The museum shows the many facets of village rural life, and the museum garden invites visitors to linger.

The Bonifatius Route, opened in 2004, follows the tracks of the funeral procession that brought the body of the missionary and church reformer Bonifatius from Mainz to his final resting place in Fulda in 754. Christian Vogel recently undertook a reconstruction of the route of the historical funeral procession. Written records from the early Middle Ages are very sparse on this point. For practical reasons, however, it can be assumed that the procession led along old Roman roads that were still intact and along paths that had been used since prehistoric times.

The Bonifatius Route runs in a "corridor" that takes into account the early medieval traffic routes and thus certainly comes close to the historical route. In addition to the cultural-historical and spiritual environment, the focus is on interesting, natural routes with tourist infrastructure. In this way, following the example of classic pilgrimage routes, it is possible to combine being on the way and pausing, hiking and experiencing nature with the evidence of a cultural landscape that has grown over centuries.

In the middle of the town of Bad Vilbel (in the northern part of the spa gardens), the remains of a moated castle stand on the banks of the Nidda. This was once the residence of the Knights of Vilbel and served as the official seat of the Electoral Mainz administration from 1581 to 1796. The oldest parts of the castle date back to the 12th century.

In 1986, the idea was developed to open an open-air theatre in the ruins of this moated castle. In the summer of 1987, the first Bad Vilbel Castle Festival took place. Due to the good response to the festival, it was decided to make it a regular event.

In 1990, the offer of an annual in-house production was expanded to include several events: a children's theatre, literary matinees and, for the first time, the Ettlingen Castle Festival. Since 1995, the Burgkeller has also been used for performances. Since 2011, theatre for children and families has been expanded as a new focus - with in-house productions from three different genres: opera, musical and drama.

With 764,104 inhabitants, Frankfurt am Main is the largest city in Hesse and the fifth largest in Germany. It is district-free and forms the centre of the Frankfurt conurbation with more than 2.3 million inhabitants. Around 5.8 million people live in the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main metropolitan region.

Since the Middle Ages, Frankfurt am Main has been one of the most important urban centres in Germany. First mentioned in a document in 794, it was an imperial city from 1372. Until the end of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806, most of the Roman-German kings were elected in Frankfurt am Main and from 1562 onwards they were also crowned emperor. From 1815 onwards, the Free City of Frankfurt was a sovereign member state of the German Confederation and also its political centre. It was the seat of the Federal Assembly and, in 1848/49, of the National Assembly and the Provisional Central Authority.

After the German War of 1866, Prussia annexed the Free City of Frankfurt. Rapid industrialisation triggered a population surge. Since 1875 the city has had over 100,000 inhabitants, and since 1928 more than 500,000. As a sign of its commitment to European unification, Frankfurt has called itself a European city since 1998.

The Bad Vilbel spa park stretches along the Nidda through the entire city area. It is bordered by two historic structures: the historic sandstone bridge of the Main-Weser railway and the Bad Vilbel Römer Brunnen fountain.

Its large lawns are surrounded by trees typical of the native area and invite visitors to rest, play and wander.

It is part of the successful project GartenRheinMain - Vom Klostergarten zum Regionalpark (GardenRhineMain - From Monastery Garden to Regional Park) supported by the KulturRegion Frankfurt RheinMain, which has been focusing on the region's diverse gardens and parks and raising awareness of garden culture since 2004.

And this is where the spa park can be found.

Vilbel Castle is located in the town of the same name on the river Nidda. The moat of the moated castle used to be fed by the river, but today there is a park between the two that allows you to walk completely around the castle. Vilbel Castle dates from the 12th century and was enlarged in the 13th century. Today, the complex is partly in ruins, partly restored. The shield wall, the ring wall, a defence tower, the castle courtyard, the gate and parts of the palace have survived. The beautiful and impressive grounds, together with the park, invite you to visit and linger.
